Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
MAT involves the use of medications such as buprenorphine, methadone, or naltrexone to help individuals manage cravings, alleviate withdrawal symptoms, and prevent relapse. These medications are prescribed by trained medical professionals who closely monitor their effectiveness and adjust dosages as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
The benefits of MAT at Essentials Recovery are manifold:
Reduced Cravings and Withdrawal Symptoms: MAT helps individuals stabilize their brain chemistry, making it easier to manage cravings and withdrawal symptoms. This stabilization allows clients to focus more effectively on their recovery journey.
Improved Treatment Engagement: By minimizing the discomfort of withdrawal and cravings, MAT can enhance treatment retention rates. Clients are more likely to stay engaged in therapy and other recovery activities, leading to better long-term outcomes.
Lower Risk of Relapse: MAT has been shown to significantly reduce the risk of relapse, particularly when combined with counseling and behavioral therapies. It provides a stable foundation for recovery by reducing the appeal of illicit substances.
Support for Comprehensive Recovery: MAT is integrated into a holistic treatment plan that includes counseling, support groups, and life skills training. This comprehensive approach addresses the physical, psychological, and social aspects of addiction recovery.
Individualized Care: At Essentials Recovery, MAT is tailored to each client’s unique needs and circumstances. Our medical team conducts thorough assessments to determine the most appropriate medication and dosage, ensuring personalized care that maximizes effectiveness.
Safety and Supervision: MAT at Essentials Recovery is provided under the supervision of experienced medical professionals who prioritize safety and efficacy. Regular monitoring and adjustments to the treatment plan help ensure that clients receive the support they need throughout their recovery journey.
By integrating Medication-Assisted Treatment into our recovery programs, Essentials Recovery strives to empower individuals to achieve sobriety, rebuild their lives, and sustain long-term wellness. We are committed to providing compassionate care and evidence-based treatments that promote healing and recovery from addiction. Essentials Recovery accepts clients into our MAT program on an individual case basis. MAT medications for the treatment of Opiate Use Disorder (OUD) accepted include buprenorphine (Sublocade, Suboxone, etc.) and naltrexone (Vivitrol). Accepted medications for Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) include disulfiram (Antabuse), acamprosate (Campral), and naltrexone.
Continuing Your Recovery
At Essentials Recovery, we understand people want to get back to a normal routine and continue with life’s daily commitments such as work, school, and family needs. We also firmly believe returning to a structured, healthy lifestyle is pertinent to achieving long term recovery. Essentials Recovery offers both day and night time therapy and groups to accommodate any schedule. Although we strongly suggest the full completion of an inpatient or partial hospitalization program prior to attending intensive outpatient, we do realize that is not realistic for every person.
Our Mission
Essentials mission is to renew lives impacted by addiction through personalized and complete behavioral healthcare. Our main purpose is to provide services and education to the client and family that will support long lasting recovery of mind, body, and spirit.

Find answers to commonly asked questions about drug and alcohol treatment services
What is the difference between PHP, IOP, and OP?
PHP, IOP, and OP differ primarily in the level of intensity and the time commitment involved. PHP is the most intensive, with daily treatment sessions, typically lasting 5-7 hours per day. IOP provides less intensive care, usually 3-5 days a week with 3-4 hours per day. OP is the least intensive, typically offering treatment 1-2 days a week for 1-2 hours per session.
Will my family be involved in the treatment process?
Yes, we believe that family involvement is crucial to the recovery process. We offer family therapy sessions, support groups, and educational resources to help family members understand addiction and mental health issues and learn how to support their loved ones in recovery.
What happens during a typical day in the IOP or PHP?
A typical day in IOP or PHP includes group therapy, individual therapy, and other therapeutic activities like mindfulness, coping skills training, or family therapy. In PHP, sessions are usually more intensive, running for several hours, while IOP offers a less intense schedule with fewer hours of therapy each week.
Is the treatment program covered by insurance?
We accept most major insurance plans, and our team can help verify your coverage. Many plans cover both substance abuse and mental health treatment. If you’re unsure about your coverage, we can help navigate the insurance process and discuss payment options.
